Fees

Set by law and transparent — no hidden costs.

Orthodontic fees in the Netherlands are set by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). All orthodontists apply the same maximum rates. You will never pay more than legally permitted at our practice.

The current rates can be found on the NZa website:

Insurance coverage

Children up to and including age 17

Orthodontics for children is covered by basic health insurance, provided the irregularity is severe enough. Severity is assessed using the IOTN index (Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need). If your child scores IOTN 5 or higher, the basic insurance covers the treatment in full. IOTN 4 may be 75% covered by some supplementary insurance policies.

We determine the IOTN at the first consultation and explain it clearly to you.

Adults (age 18 and over)

Orthodontics for adults is not covered by basic health insurance. Some supplementary insurance policies cover a portion. Check your policy conditions or contact your insurer.

You will receive a cost estimate with your treatment plan. Instalment payments are possible.

Deductible (own risk)

Please note: even with full basic insurance coverage, the annual deductible (eigen risico) may apply. Check your policy. The deductible does not apply to children under 18.

Do you have questions about your personal situation? Please contact us or ask your insurer for prior authorisation (machtiging vooraf).
